*Revised Version*
My body enwraps aroma of
baked banana bread lingering
around as the door closes
out chills entering our
heated shield from within.
Tires screech as my heart
silently screams with agony,
but fire crackle inside from the
hugs of duet “hellos”,
and “how are you’s”
from my older twos
Another “hello” barked to me
with doe-eyes look up
panting for a tummy rub,
on his furry side tickling
around the four-legged
stout puts away his pout
Enter my boxed-size space
I lay down whisp of butterflies
as I unravel knots binding
Me through the day so,
I pick up a lead and
carve words that will
always stay.
